ICF Block Exterior Walls with PEMB Metal Structure
We design and build a wide range of commercial projects, from heart cath labs to strip centers and warehouses. Our specialty, however, is a proven hybrid system that combines ICF block exterior walls with PEMB metal structures and standing-seam metal roofs.
When professionally designed, this approach delivers faster construction and approximately 10% total cost savings, while giving owners an exceptionally durable building envelope. The 6″ solid reinforced concrete ICF walls—with rebar in both directions—create a structure so rigid that expansion joints are unnecessary, as the ICF system represents over 50% of the building’s value and virtually eliminates expansion and contraction.
At the same time, the standing-seam metal roof—using the Pittsburgh seam we pioneered and later licensed industry-wide—acts like a lightweight but extremely resilient shell. Once spray-foam insulated, the roof assembly delivers outstanding energy performance and results in a fully waterproof, CAT 5 hurricane-rated structure.
